Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans shared sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
