Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period like this with outcomes like these.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
