Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
